I just found out that Microsoft has dropped the DEBUG.EXE program from Windows 7. Personally, being involved with multi-platform data transfers, I've always found it to be an invaluable diagnostic tool when reviewing data content by taking hex dumps of a file.

Fortunately, it appears that there are some decent freeware hex dump programs available.

(One of) the best of them is HxD, which, useful for us Dinosaur junks, also allows you to view the hex dumps in EBCDIC!
