I have a job that runs much slower in the Production LPAR compared to the Test LPAR (i.e. approximately 10X) using the same input files. The JESYSMSG log statistics indicate that the Production run uses more CONN and SERV units. Can anybody tell me what the CONN stats is for and the possible explanation for the huge differences in the stats:

TEST:

JOBTEST STEPNAME PROCSTEP RC EXCP CONN SERV WLM
TESTJOB TSD651 TSTS651 0000 63662 5671 26834 TBATCH

PROD:

JOBTEST STEPNAME PROCSTEP RC EXCP CONN SERV WLM
PRODJOB TSD651 TSTS651 0000 63673 30284 89458 PBATCH

Thank you.

Your question falls into the category of questions best answered by your site support group, as they can talk about your specific environment while we can only talk in generalities.

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of reasons batch elapsed times vary even for a single job. The service units being higher indicates the production job did more work than the test job. The higher connect total also indicates this.

Contact your site support group and work with them.
