Get a Directx 9.x Graphics card(like NVidia 79xx) for Windows XP or 10.x card(like NVidia 88xx or 9xxx) for Vista. The current VFM card in Bangalore is 8800GT. For future proof, go with 9800 series.

I would suggest, please give a search on Google or Wikipedia with your specific query which might return many hits containing product info, reviews, etc...

Hello,

If you are looking for "freeware" or "shareware", you might look at www.tucows.com.

Originally, TUCOWS - The Ultimate Collection Of Win-sock Software. Now there are offerings for multiple platforms. There are also many "for sale" offerings as well as freeware/shareware/demo products.

This is an item of the home page today. . .

SpeedUpMyPC is the winner of the 2007 People's Choice Award! Do you often notice that your PC just doesnt run as smoothly as it used to? This could be caused by anyone of several problems or a combination of all of them. The problem is, monitoring todays PCs is increasingly difficult and time consuming. Even experienced users find effective control of all the settings and resources of their PCs hard to achieve.
With SpeedUpMyPC, its as though you have a full time technician working flat out just for you, helping you to make the best use of all that processing power that you have already bought. SpeedUpMyPC lets you monitor and control all your PC resources with easy, one click instructions. System settings, internet usage, disk clutter, RAM and CPU are all automatically scanned, cleaned and optimized for peak performance. You can also selectively disable or remove unnecessary background and auto-start processes to cut valuable seconds off your startup time.

Everything i've ever tried from tucows has been tested and rated.

FWIW.

Not that i'm aware of specifically. I suspect that there would be some incompatabilities across the wide range of possible hardware in use.

You might want to send a note to the vendor of your "speed-it-up" product and ask if there are any known problems and if they have fix(es) for your particular setup.

I don't recommend using this ready made speed-up software. Instead Keep your PC Clean with a good Temp. file cleaner (like CCleaner) and a good registry cleaner.

Periodically defrag your Hard Disk using a good folder level defrag software like UltimateDefrag.

Do not fill up your OS Drive and make it around 10-30GB for Win XP. Install your Games on the outer sector of the second HDD, if available. If not install in the second partition.

Make your Virtual memory static and keep it in a separate HDD if possible.

Invest on good hardware for high FSB, RAM Ratio and high DMA transfer rate.
