Hi ,
Datamanager is a very old mainframe tool ( around early 1980s) from MSP later became ASG . This tool work with Data dictionaries (data definition of Data) ,Copybook creation etc.
Datamanager is an independent program product for registering data about data. Datamanager consists of a 'database', data dictionary, where the registered information is stored.
The product also has functions to change the registered information, conduct searches in the dictionary and to produce different types of reports
Are you aware or working on this tool ? We are looking for a modern IBM tool to replace the Datamanager . But dont know which is the best tool from IBM can do this same tasks ?
Thanks |

As usual, when a query like yours comes through, Did you get anything useful from Google?
Now, like many old timers in this (and similar) forums, I had never heard of the product, so all I could do was consult Google. Google coughed up quite a few hits, but they weren't particularly useful.
Another issue with your query are two rather qualitative issues:- Just exactly what do you mean by "modern?"
- For that matter, what is this ASG? Google came up with two, perhaps three, hits: ASG Software Solutions (which is most likely the vendor you are looking for; American Sewing Guild; and ASG Security.

Do we have any Modern tools to replace Datamanager |
why does the TS believe that the tool is not modern ???
the TS is just wasting everybody' s time doing something he does not have the skills for
a simple google search with ASG DATAMANAGER
would have shown that datamanager / its descendents are alive and kicking
www.asg.com/en/Smart-Catalog/ASG-Manager-Products.aspx
why not ask IBM for an alternative anyway ?
topic should locked we do not want to be caught in a marketing war
my product is better than Yours
and an inside war about the product to be chosen |

Hi ,
Thank you for the responses.
In fact I had already done the searching about the alternative tool for Datamanager that can use in Mainframe.
> I had contacted the same vendor to get the latest updates about the tools. ut unfortunately they dont have much updates. Their websites also not giving those information.
> As a second step I had contacted IBM and explained about the features of
Datamanager . But the persons we have contacted also not aware of this tool and they did n't have any other tool to recommend also.
> I had searched in Google and visited similar company profiles to understand their products that matches with the similar features.
> As part of my searching & understanding , the above query posted in ibmmainframes forum.
We have already implemented mainframe latest tools like IBM RDz ,RAA, RTC and also in phase of study of ADDI. But when we have to incorporate these tools ,datamanager stands outside .
Once again Thank you all . |
