hi

1) is thre any website frm which i can download simulated versions
of any of mainframe s/w and install it ?
(like cobol, jcl, db2, vsam, fileaid, endevor)

2) can anyone tell me the site addr. frm which i can download
cobol s/w?

I do not think you will find simultation for M/F tools on PC.
the only simulation you would find would be for Database and languages :

I know there is DB2 version for UNIX, AS400 AND also ONE for PC.
so u can download DB2 for PC from IBM (It is a trial version though)..

for cobol you may want to go to cobolreport.com (as previously stated.
Assembler :
There is a book on assembler that has some sort of simulation software to run assembler (370 type) pgm. BUT YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RUN PGM THAT INTERACT WITH THE SYSTEM. This would be only to write business type of applications (i.e calculations, defining files, writing to and reading from them, and reporting )
the book can be found at murach's (www.murach.com) one of the author is catherine Prince.

REXX :

there is a REXX for PC interpreter is is called regina (look for it using yahoo or google)

and ultimately if you wish to have a simulation of ur cherished system (MVS, or OS/390) running on a linux or windows PC use google or yahoo and find HERCULE.

DB2 trial : go at IBM (something like Use [URL] BBCode for External Links:COM)
COBOL see Use [URL] BBCode for External Links or maybe Use [URL] BBCode for External Links carries the cobol pc interpreter.

Hi Karthi,

You can get a CD for simulated Mainframe Environment. You can buy that & install in your system... This simulated environment is much similar to the MF environment with slight diffrences...

With this, you can work on Cobol Jcl, DB2, VSAM and CICS, but you can't get the simulated version for tools like Endevor, Xpediter etc.
