Why every time I edit this data set, it will always show like

-CAUTION- Profile changed to NUMBER ON STD (from NUMBER OFF).
Data has valid standard numbers.

and I must enter "num off" every time.
Is there something that I do wrong?

other data sets are fine, just this one!

Looks like You are trying to edit a FB 28/xxxxx dataset

ISPF logic for NUMBER ON/OFF spotting is ( the manual will have better details )

for FB datasets the last 8 positions of the records
for VB datasets the first 8 positions of the records

if they contain VALID sequence numbers then ISPF will assume number ON
beware about the RENUM command , it will ruin your data, be quick in issuing a CANCEL rather than a SAVE

what You are experiencing happens normally when editing DATA rather than sources/textual data
