You probably be looking for EDIT and SIGNS to be used to do the same also see if you can use TO=ZD operator.

I am also having the same kind of requirement..
My input is in binary & i need to convert it to ZD. But, as I checked in some manuals, we cannot edit fields in TRAILER3 unless we specify it in aggregate functions like TOT, AVG etc..

Could anyone please confirm on the same ?

Is there any way to change it in trailer3 itself rather changing it using INREC fields ?

Your interpretation of the manual was correct. You can only access "unedited input" to the OUTFIL on TRAILER3 as far as direct source-data is concerned. So you'll have to use INREC or OUTREC.
