Hi All
I am working in a project,I have a COBOL program and my job is to analyze the entire program and I need to prepare a analysis document in such a way that Client must able to understand.Please help me regarding the above. If you have any document please send it to me. very urgent. |

U need to prepare adocument saying that
1. what are the copybooks the program used.
2.is that program uses any other sub programs.
3.U need to describe the program what it is doing |

Thanks for your reply... Is it neccessary for me to use flowchart or pseudocode inorder to describe the program flow. |

hai,
we need to follow the below steps for analysis::
1.Business functionality of the program
2. frequency....(monthly,quartely like this)
3. copy books used
4.input/output(s)
5.calling and called programs
6.call graph
7.logic of the program
8.business rules for the program
9.tables used
10.indexes used
11. others like environment,triggering points,remarks
12.sign off detaiels..
most of the cases we follow the above template...

Your document helped me a lot. Could you send me the COBOL code for the oracle conversion process. I just have the tables. How COBOL code is converted to tables based on the fields is not mentioned. Please help me in this issue. |

hai,
my role in the current project is to prepare analysis document which i sent to you.
mapping of cobol structure to pl-sql does't come into this picture.
may be they (pl-sql people) will take care of that...

Thanks for reply. My project is a migration project(COBOL-java).My job is to analyse the COBOL code and I have to prepare a document in such a way that persons working on the JAVA paltform must understand the flow. If you know more about the above issue please help me. |
