Where does Personal Communications store user defined Transfer Types? They are not in the folder where SRLs are stored. I've tried to find the location in two ways:
- creating a transfer type and then searching my C drive for the name
- browsing within files in the folder Application Data\IBM\Personal Communications
I'm getting nothing. This has become an issue because people's machines where I work are being upgraded to Win 8 and while their SRLs are preserved, their Transfer Types are being lost. |

Maybe a search on creation date and/or a piece of text could help. |

Peter - Thanks for the information, I read thru the documentation and checked all the directories listed but still can not find the location. I did all the usual tricks, create a new Transfer Type, look for updated files, and so on, but have come up blank!
While I am still interested in the answer it is a bit moot now since it looks like even if I found the info it will not be used as part of the rollout |

Ok, there is also the possibility that during PCOMM installation not listed directories were chosen on another drive?
Maybe the registry contains info about defined directories.
Good luck in finding out. |

I have found the answer: The transfer types are stored in the .WS file, usually named mainframe.ws
When Personal Communications was installed on the new machine it was set up with the default .ws file and additionally this file was stored in Program Files folder rather than on the users desktop. The user does not have admin access to the Program Files folder and so their changes would not be saved to the .WS file. I need to get an update to the user's machine so that .WS is stored on their desktop. |
