Hi all,
I have seen many people keep doing it "Including me"
Like just try a code once and if doesnt work they post it here blaming errors
If we had just tried to read manuals and see those examples
I am sure we all can crack it
May be I believe there should be a mandatory fields when posting a new thread like "What has been tried so far","What is the error obtained" "whats the sort product" , "file type","lrecl" so unless these fields are filled the post should not be published to all others
This will save some time for experts like many here to ask the same redundant questions again and again and again
Feedbacks needed |

i am not by any means the best expert here,
but my experience leads me to have the following PERSONAL Opinion
of a typical TS on this forum:- they are people who are incapable of /do not want to read and/or do any research
- are ignored by their co-workers because they are so stubborn and unwilling to accept responsibility for their own errors
- are very thin skinned and cannot/will not accept any criticism (constructive or critical)
- should not be in a career that requires logical thought
- have very poor problem solving skills
To force them (via web-page forms control)
to suddenly perform all the activities (read: full and complete problem description)
would probably reduce the Topic count by 95 percent.
It is a real pain-in-the-butt (or as Kolusu says: Sigh) to drag
all the info from them,
but that is part of the training most of the seniors are attempting to accomplish,
and without the back and forth dialogue,
the TS will not learn.
One reoccurring theme is compiler/pre-compiler bugs and faulty run-time errors issued by the ops-sys.
Until that error in mindset is changed, the TS will continue to have problems.
(as well as many Topics/posts)
Besides, the idea reeks too much of govt type web-sites.
Those assholes from africa that send out emails telling you that
there is 50 gazillion dollars waiting for you,
and all you need to to is send 70 bucks and all your passwords and konto info to ...
really piss-me-off. As well as all the other obvious scams sent thru email.
Try to report this to the authorities via internet
and you have to answer 90 personal questions
before you can even get to the point of saying
"this asshole email address is a scammer".
as a result, I have never reported anything.
as painful as they sometimes are,
dragging a TS thru the 'tell us what the problem is'
sometimes is the only way we can help someone improve.
A form would not help the TS
and would only lower the traffic on this forum.
Personal Opinion ENDED. |

Hello,
Unfortunately, even though our forum is called an "Expert Forum", most of the posters are actually just beginning or have had one year experience several times (rather than several years experience).
Many have no idea how to ask a question or what resources are already available to them.
As DBZ mentioned, if we ask too much, we will no longer be able to help/teach.
Just MHO,

What? What?
keep in mind, the goal for this or any technical forum
is to help those with questions
not for those who provide answers to look good
one of the members has a good quote in their signature:
most of the battle to solving a problem is defining it.
The priority for this forum is
helping posters learn - how to define a problem
- how to find info in the manuals
- how to utilize and apply the knowledge they have to solve different problems
NOT
making it easier for those who want to provide answers. |

For the initial post, the input box is filled with some hints and tips. These are already ignored - sometimes people even leave those comments in, despite the instructions. |

It's like changing the perception of the people and that's one of the most tough jobs under the sun.
Point is - if one is willing to get an answer and did his home-work - they will pose a good question anyways. Else they'll just keep on ignoring no matter what one sugegst them to do, to start with... . |
