Hi,

Can anyone give a brief explanation on LPAR concept in mainframes?

Any link that will point me to the documentation will also be great.

Thanks,
Jyothsna

LPAR (or PR/SM, which is the same thing in IBM terminology) is a logical partition of a machine. Each LPAR functions independently and can be IPLed (rebooted in PC terms) without affecting other LPARs on the machine. See this for more: publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/zos/basics/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.zos.zmainframe/zconc_mfhwlpar.htm

This reminds me of a joke: A husband on a Office holiday from an exotic place writes an SMS to his wife, "Wish you were her"!

As couple is drifting off to sleep -
Wife: If I die, don't let your new wife sleep in this bed
Husband: OK
Wife: And don't let he kids call her "Mom"
Husband: OK
Wife: And don't let her use my golf clubs
Husband: She's left handed

Which reminds me of:

Can you say "Richard and Robert murdered a rabbit" without pronouncing any of the r's?

Practice quietly or in front of a mirror and i'll explain later. . . If anyone is interested. . . If you know, please refrain.

Some try to say:
"ichad and obet muded a abbit" - which can be tough when spoken aloud rather than read.

An easier way to do this is:
"Dick and Bob killed a bunny".

Yup, it is Monday. . .

BOOOOO!!! BOOOO!!!! I call shenanigans!

The challenge was to do it "without pronouncing any of the r's?" THE r's! It didn't say "Convey this idea using words with no R's."

That's just cheap I tell ya, CHEAP!
