Will opening a KSDS in OUTPUT mode delete the existing records?
What is impact of opening in EXTEND mode for ESDS, KSDS, RRDS files.
I read through the manuals, but still confused. If this query has already been posted please let me know the link. |

Why dont you do a search for yourself. I did that too 40 years ago and i never came up with this kind of questions. |

For anyone who needs detailed info on accessing VSAM files in COBOL, please refer to Chapter 10. Processing VSAM files in Enterprise COBOL Programming Guide. BTW Peter, one has to face all sorts of questions in an interview, even if it is stupid. Agreed that I should have referred all available manuals before posting the question. |

Better yet - to really remember the answer and become your site's VSAM expert, TEST IT and see.
You should always keep some sandbox versions of technology you are learning to experiment with. |
