Hello All,
I would like to get some clarification regarding IMS region START and STOP. I am new to IMS and as per my understanding after the code changes we need to STOP and START the IMS region to reflect the updations made in our module.
I think we have to use the command /STO REG >region ID<
But I am not sure about the region-Id how we can find out that. I APPL region there are so many applications running and for the testing purpose I have to use one application. So how I can refresh this Application/transaction. I know the corresponding JOB name for that application.
Please let me know the steps I should follow to STOP and START a region in IMS.
Thanks in Advance

You could use :
/STO REG JOBNAME xxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxxx is the jobname of the region |

The first step is to talk with the people responsible for IMS. Do not stop the region just because you think you need to.
Some places i've been terminate people for such actions. |

If you stop a region - you better be the ONLY one running in the region. |

Most installations do not allow applications people any access to production regions - only those in tech support. Guess why..... Even if you try to stop and start a test region, you had better be the only person executing in that region. |

Now that a lot of well-meaning gentlemen have warned you about possible restrictions on what you may or may not do on your site, I will just add that site security should be in place for not issuing commands in IMS environments that you are not authorised to manage, let alone having access to the IMS command interface.
If you are authorised, issue a /DIS ALL in the IMS master region you are targeting. That will list the current active MPP and BMP regions along with their ids. |
