Hi,
I am testing an IMS program through XPED, but while openning an input file i am getting S878 abend with Region Code '10' . from my analysis this coming because of 'Region Size'. While in a job we can increase it by ncreasing the Region Size by putting REGION parameter as '0' in Job card. But How to do the same for a XPED testing. Can anyone help.

I encountered this problem years ago. If allowed to, increase the region size of your TSO session. If not allowed to, like me, I had to decrease the size of a couple of internal COBOL tables that were not relevant to my testing, in order to avoid the S878. |

Hi Terry,
I am actually not familiar with commands to increase/decrease TSO Region Size. Could you please explain a little.
Thanks |

When you first log onto TSO, you might be presented with a panel showing your region size. And you might not since that panel is sometimes made unavailable to developers. You'll need to inquire at your shop. As long as you're inquiring, let them know of your problem and they might increase your TSO region size temporarily for you. |

Hi
S-878 WITH RC 10 MEANS THERE IS NOT ENOUGH PRIVATE AREA TO SATISFY THE REQUEST. MAY BE A V=R REGION BEFORE IT'S INITIALIZATION HAS COMPLETED. UP TO MY KNOWLEDGE. |
