Hi,
we have faced a cryptic situation of allocation recovery, because there was a dynamic DD involved and to us has not been possible to find what dataset the STC wanted to allocate; the messages were:
IEF244I CFTMON CFTMAIN - UNABLE TO ALLOCATE 1 UNIT(S) 463
AT LEAST 1 OFFLINE UNIT(S) NEEDED.
IEF877E CFTMON NEEDS 1 UNIT(S) 464
FOR CFTMAIN SYS00010
FOR VOLUME PRIVAT- 1
OFFLINE
1053-105F 1066-106F 10B0-10BF 1F40-1F7F 1FB0-1FBF A000 A009-A00A
...
A902-A90F A91B-A91F A941-A980 A982-A98F A99B-A99F A9C1-A9FF B000-B77F
:
IEF878I END OF IEF877E FOR CFTMON CFTMAIN SYS00010
129 IEF238D CFTMON - REPLY DEVICE NAME OR 'CANCEL'.
We solved it in the dirty way... We have added a storage volume (that we are not used to have on our Production LPARs) and we have found the answer.
But, is there a more methodic way to manage the issue, like tools, traces, and the like?
Thanks,
Francesco |

| I assume that the output didn't provide any clues? What MSGLEVEL are you using tfor the STC? You could try to run the STC as a batch job, or a started job which will allow you to add the MSGLEVEL parameter. |

| For JOBCLASS(STC) we have MSGLEVEL(1,1), so I think that we can't have any more help from messages, if application is unkind... |
