Hi All,
I got the following message code while doing APPLY of PTFs,
" BPXF140E RETURN CODE 00000081, REASON CODE 0594003D. A LINK FAILED FOR LINK NAME" for some HFS file.
when I check with the LOOKAT, it is showing that BPXCOPY utility is unable to create a link to mentioned HFS file.
Please help me to rectify this error.
Thanks in Advance. |

Have you copied your root system to your service mount point? Are all needed directories under the service mount point? I would suspect first that a mount point on your root system wasn't copied over so a directory is missing under the service mount point. |

Hi Robert,
Yes, it is correct. The problem is because of the directories mentioned in the message are not exist.
But I did n't copy root.
Thanks a lot for your response. |

Glad to hear you found the problem.
But if I were you, I'd check the DDDEFs for your target zone to find out for sure what you're trying to update. We use a /Service mount point so we can copy root to another file system, mount it on /Service, and update the copy. This is so that if there's an unexpected problem with the updates we won't lose our existing root. Pointing to the new root merely requires updating BPXPFMxx to use the new data set name and doing an IPL. |
