Hi,
My project is planning to use SYNCSORT eliminating DFSORT. Can any one please guide me what will be the differences while ongoing this process?
I am not sure whether ICETOOL, ICEMAN ... will be supported by SYNCSORT.
PS: I tried searching the forum with string 'DFSORT vs SYNCSORT' but I got many pages with the discussions. As I have less time I am posting my requirement. Appreciate your help.
Thanks.

P.S. drop a few hundred euros in my pay pal account and I will do your work for you.
My time is expensive, as every other member of this board.
Spend some of your time reading what has already been accumulated.
If you had any sense, you would have picked up Alissa's email address and
asked her.
or if your manangement had any sense, they would ask the syncsort people who are selling you their product for some support. |

Not stupid advise. Do your own work; don't tell us your time is precious.
I hope you have subscribed to this thread. |

The post was related to my work. I have enough time to do research but I was asked about this by my management and am not sure why didn't they have enough time. I did not bother to think if they have contacted the Syncsort team to get the details. I thought this was interesting and took the work. Unknowing the facts I feel it is not fair enough for you to talk about the sense. |

I will give you points for being honest,
but I feel that the purpose of the board is to help people that don't understand something, not to do their work for them.

my criticism had nothing to do with not knowing facts.
It was based on your lack of sense: asking others to do your work. |

I too have points to give.
These are the things I have done prior to posting the query
1. Searched forum: clearly shows the intention to not to post query without putting my effort.
2. Atleast I have searched 15 pages randomly (1,2,3,4,... out of 60 that were visible). I couldn't find relevant information.
The desire to know about it had made me to post the query.
But now I feel that I have wasted my time by posting the query. |

Hello,

At what level was this decision made? Has the decision already been made? Usually a decision concerning product selection for a utility product like the sort is not made for one project only. . .

Suggest you bother to contact Syncsort. . . Are you part of making the recommendation/decision or has your management already decided and now you need to learn the new product? |

I would recommend contacting DFSORT to get information on what unique features might help the project succeed. They would be eager to prevent being replaced! |

Your time has not been wasted. Hopefully you've learned that your time is no more valuable than other folks time. After all, no one here (I don't think anyway) is being paid to donate their time, effort, and expertise. Many people here have spent years and countless hours researching solutions to problems by reading manuals. Some of us expect the same type of effort of newcomers. |
