Recently we have been receiving a number of U0020 errors on jobs that use CA11. I know that something needs to be cleared out, but I am not quite sure what to look for. It has been many years since I got this far into CA11. I was given some manuals by the head of the production scheduling group, but I just can't find what I really need. Any help out be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

Hello Steven and welcome to the forums,
In addition to the U0020, CA11 probably generated additional diagnostic information (if the U0020 is not a single-cause abend).
If nothing presents itself, i'd suggest opening an issue with CA support. If there is documentation in additon to that from production scheduling, it may be downloaded free frm the CA support site. |

When I look at the job at gave me the U0020, this is what I see:
U11-042 CANNOT RESTART - CMT ENTRY INVALID
U11-022 VERIF CODE = 24 PROC/STEP = JSTY0020/PSTY0150 DDNAME = APBK47
I know that the CMT entry is bad, I just can't find how to correct it. I ended up running the job without CA11. While we are working on removing CA11 (contract issues) I still need to keep it working.
I did find all the docs on the CS support site, thanks. |

Hi Steve,
Going by your first post, might this be related?
Quote: |
U11D9015Utility to clean up the CMT and remove old members and/or fix members.
You can usethe U11D9015 utility to validate and repair a CMT that has had bad membersand perform periodic maintenance to delete old members from the CMT. When run without parameters, this utility examines the structure of theCMT PDS, the internal structure of CMT members, and the cross system memberslocks. U11D9015 utility releases any locks found and deletes anymembers with invalid directory of data structures.
Parametersmay be specified to U11D9015 to:
--Limitthe members accessed.
--Deletemembers for jobs that have not run in a specified period of time.
Validkeywords are:
START= TOSPECIFY A STARTING MEMBER
STOP= TOSPECIFY AN ENDING MEMBER
MEMBER= TOSPECIFY ONLY ONE MEMBER
(1- 8 CHARACTERS VALID FOR MEMBER NAMES)
DATE= SPECIFYTHE DATE OF THE OLDEST RECORD KEPT (JULIAN DATE)
DAYS= SPECIFYTHE NUMBER OF DAYS BEFORE TODAY OF THE OLDEST RECORD KEPT. 1 - 3NUMERIC DIGITS

It appears that this happens on restart when:

Good luck |

Dick,
It does make it a bit more clear thanks. The manuals do not really spell out how to do things. I find them a bit hard to follow. |

Agree. . . They work for reference material, but are not much for training/learning material.

FINALLY!!
It took a few tries, but I was finally able to delete the CMT entry for the job that was giving me the trouble. it turned out that the job had a new DD name that had been added, and for some reason, CA11 kept abending the job ewach time it tried to run. Once we deleted the CMT entry and re-ran the job with a parm of P, it worked!!
Thanks for all the good info Dick. |

Hi Steve,
I think I was not clear enough in my last post, I'll try again.. please let me know - how did you delete the CMT entry for the job ?
Long back I also had the same problem for a JOB in "Test region" at my shop, as it was test region I just changed the DSN name & was moved on - but the question still "eats" my head out.. |

Sorry about that Anuj. My mistake. been a busy day here.
In the CA11 menu, go to option 3 - Catalog Management Table Update. Now your option may be different, but it is still the CMT table update.
When you get to the CMT update screen, you need to enter the jobname that you want to delete. You press Enter and it give you what the CMT has for that job. Tab over to Profile: and enter a '*'. It will not display the '*'. Tab down to Rep Data: and put the word Delete, then press enter. You will get a message that the entry has been deleted.
Now, I am not sure if your CA system is set up exactly the same way. That is how I did it. |

Check the User's Guide for a batch solution -- look at U11UPD. |

Hi Steve,
At my shop yeah it's little different - option is same (3) but the description is different (just in case you want to know it's- Maintain CA-1 configuration tables). But I think my RACF ID doesn't have update autority to do that, below test in "quote' is what i see here
Quote: |
Under RACF control, UPDATE authority will now require appropriate approval documentation. If you require UPDATE authority please, submit a TMC Update Authority Request form located on.. |
Thanks for your time Steve, now I know how to do it, I'll play around with it a little ..let's see if they can provide me the access, Thanks.. |

Anytime Anuj.
Robert, I found the info on U11UPD. However, I do not have access to that facility, which seems kind of odd since I can delete the entry right through CA11. |
