Why define when you can autoinstall? |

hi william
due to security reasons we don't rely on the autoinstall and we prefer to statically install each terminals CICS & its associated LU name
waiting for your feedback
thanks alot |

Do you define and install within RDO?
Do you cold start after defining? |

i use the usual cics panels in defining CICS terminals
i don't make any starts after definitions . after installation i usually find the terminals already acquired without need to restart CICS
anyway when i start the CICS i don't provide any extra parameters . i leave it to defaults. i don't know whether this a cold or warm start |

IIRC, define and install, good. If not installed, normal warm starts will not look at the CSD for additional defined terms, only activating those that were already installed. |

If I Recall Correctly....
Resource definition online (RDO): This method uses the CICS-supplied online transactions CEDA, CEDB, and CEDC. Definitions are stored on the CICS system definition (CSD) file, and installed into an active CICS system from the CSD file. |

I don't have a simple book for administration, your best bet would be to start with Chapter 1. Introducing resource definition in CICS Transaction Server for z/OS CICS System Definition Guide (SC34-6428). |

Sorry, I missed them..
I do believe that the CSD is defined in the FCT, you should be able to find it with CEMT. Generally you are better off working directly with CICS but there are ways to update via JCL.
Unless you want things to get really messed up, keep others out of the CSD.
Assuming you have a CICS that is currently running, the best experience will come in time. |
