The CANCEL command just cancels the job, leaving its output in the spool. The PURGE cpmmand cancels and purges the job (and its outputs) from the spool.

Hi Venkat,

The Difference between Purge & Cancel:
that cancel and purge commands work differently. If you issue a cancel command it will just cancel the job , but the job output is still available, but on the other if you issue a purge command , it not only cancels the job but also will delete the entire the job output.

Sarunkumaar,

It's the JOBNAME not the JobID that you should be prefixing..

Cheers, Twissi.

Hi !

>> cancelled one job in my spool area

What does this mean. I think you cancel a running Job by using C in SDSF ST or DA Panel. When you do this, the JobOutput is still in SDSF-Queue. Enter ST in SDSF an you see your job. First set the Owner to your UserId.

in JESMSGLG you could see: STEP050 *S222
S222 cancel by user

Also use CD for cancel a running Job/Programm with producing a dump.

Regards, umeySan

Hi
They didnt mention anything regarding the type of job.i.e (running job or complted job).so am not cancelled runnibg job.
Just i tried with a job which is already executed job..

"cancelled one job in my spool area" means am cancelling a job in my spool area(IOF JOB SUMMARY) using 'C' OPTION.

after i cancelled a job using "C" option in spool area(IOF JOB SUMMARY ,i Gave the job id which i already cancelled
it shows "NO MATCH".

Note:
here we r using IOF instead of SD;ST.
Is there any difference?
Plz correct me if i wrong
Thanks

Hi mkssampathkumar !

Ok, thats a little bit diffrent. SDSF is a more comfortable Spool-Display/Search Utility. ST/DA are commands for SDSF.

It's long time ago i worked in an IOF-Environment, so i don't remember correctly the C-Command.

Sorry & Regards, UmeySan
