Differencf Between system and user abend

Hi All,

How is system abend different from user abend.As far as i know system abend starts with the letter S followed by the numerics that is for ex S1038. If user abend starts with letter U then why is it not shown in the error descriptor. Error descriptor shows only the system abend and not the user abend.

Hi,

User abend are generated using some standard functions written by programers , using that function we'll get the return codes.

Hi,

Adding to Gautam, The System abend as Name indiate cause by system like U222 its deadlock which is due to system. and User abedn are du to some data problem which is due to user like Soc7 error.
