Hi,

Can any one help me, how to open a file in PL/I program to read and write at the same time?

and is there any option like UPDATE mode in COBOL to modify the file recordss?

Hi to you too,

Neither in PL/I nor in any other language your can read and write AT THE SAME TIME icon_wink.gif You probably mean input-output or update mode. And yes someone can help you; you yourself and the manual. At this site there's a manual (see toplever menue) which explains it all. If you have any problems after reading the manual (search for 'OPEN FILE') get back to us.
