I don't know what an "Online SPUFI" is exactly (something to do with DB2, I think), but - how do you normally run an "Online SPUFI"? |

Well, certainly invoking ISPF services from batch is a no-brainer. The only thing I don't know the answer to is: how will the batch job deal with a panel display? I believe that you can call the panel, although it won't be displayed anywhere visible, but I have no idea if there is any way to enter information into a panel running in batch, since there is no 3270 terminal program running. |

you can enter command in an ispf panel in batch... it has to be taken care of in exec (thru VPUT to Zcmd) but have no time now to test it |

Hi goku,
why dont you give your solution here. Even i am curious in knowing this.
Can you also give some reason why you want to run spufi thru batch. May be it helps us.
Thanks,
Anu |

Hi Anuradha,
First of all let me explain you why i wanted to do that ....
Firstly, if you want to execute an SQL statement in batch ...you have to use DSNTEP2 ....but it has a limitation of LRECL of 133 for O/P dataset ...
but what if you want the LRECL > 133 that's why i was using SPUFI through panels ...where you can specify the record length you want ....
But if you are able to run the same through batch ..then the limitation of 133 is gone ...
For example ...In my current project I have to run lots of SQl to generate reports in CSV format with LRECL greater than 133 So i had to no other option but run the SPUFI through panels ....But now after successfully running the panels in batch ....i can just sumbit the jcl ...and everything is done....
Here is the Link from which i had customised accordingly ....
groups.google.com/groups?q=spufi+batch+group:comp.databases.ibm-db2&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=comp.databases.ibm-db2&selm=33013330.6BA2%40wwnet.com&rnum=1
You can try it out ....
