I have a file that contains multiple record types, depending on the first 2 characters of the record. I know it's possible to create a layout in File-Aid to view these record types in their respective layouts, but I'm not sure how to do it.
For Example:
File:
AA123443544
BB8NAME
CC879900
I have a copybook that has several redefines. Each record type is the same length, but there is a layout for the 'AA' record, the 'BB' record and the 'CC' record. I want to be able to bring up the file containing all these record types & map it using file aid. I know file-aid can look at the record types & reference the correct layout. Can anyone help me figure out how to set this up? |

To browse a file using different record layouts simultaneously use XREF.in fileaid .initially create XREF and keep adding the the record layouts that u would like to browse for a file under that XREF member and also specify the key by which each copybook should be referenced |

Hi,
I'm also looking out for a way to create such a XREF dataset for my file, which has various record types. Is there a option in Fileaid/MVS for creating this XREF dataset.
Please let me know.
Regards,
Lalitha. |

Hi,
In the File-Aid Select option 7 ( XREF).. Before that Create a Datsset and Members within that for the different File Layout... Within that option 7 give the Dataset name and if you wanna give a Single Copybook give the Memner Name and if you want to give multiple Copyooks give *against the Member name... |

Hi All,
Please suggest what can be the attributes of the XREF dataset.
I created a PDS with format F and length 100, and when I tried to work on it using option 7 of FILE-AID, it gave me an error "INVALID ATTRIBUTES".
Please advise.
Thanks,
Hari. |
