Dears,
I am facing strange situation with my JCL.

My application batch reporting creation job contains 20 steps, exactly at step 10 it is moving to HELD state.

1) Releasing the jobs from HOLD result in ABEND
2) Restarted the job from ABEND step, moved to HOLD state
3) Cancelled the job and submitted a FRESH job with steps STEP10 to STEP20 executed in fine.

It clearly shows, there is issue in memory allocation.

Strange Behavior:

This issue is happening only in Disaster recovery (backup) environment and its intermittent.

First instance : DR plan ( 01st to 15th)
In example, we switched to DR on 01st May job was executing till 7th May , job was failing from 8th till 12th and went fine from 13th to 15t of May.

Second instance : DR plan ( 10th to 24h)
In example, we switched to DR on 10st June job was executing till 16th June , job was failing from 17th till 21st and went fine from 22nd to 24th of June.

Please suggest and let me know if any further details required.

What REGION have you specified? You could try adding REGIONX, and also MEMLIMIT.

Anything in syslog? I've never sees jobs just stop executing and go to a held input state. It usually takes a $HOLD, a $RESTART and a cancel command to do that.

When the job goes into the supposed "HOLD" state,
Can you go to the SDSF DA panel and see what value are you seeing on the "POS" column for the job?

I've never seen a job just go into HOLD state halfway when executing.
