Is there a way to define a keylist function key command longer than 40 chars?

The keylist key definition seems to be limited to 40 chars - which is kind of short if you want to define a sequence of commands you use regularly.

thanks for any help you can give me.

Short of using a REXX pgm, no. Seems to be a weird oversight that the input fields are not scrollable, at least as far as I can tell.
See www.mainframesupport.dk/tips/tip0649.html for a REXX sample. It is farly old, but I think it is still usable.
