hi all,

is there any way I can access the rolling 4h average of MSU on a partition to see if we are 'on the cusp' of being capped?

I can do this online through RMF, but I need something that can work in batch. Eg, a batch interface to RMF, or via SMF records

My motivation is that sometimes during the 'on line' window we need to submit some CPU intensive jobs. If there is *any* risk of capping, I would typically apply a work around and apply as much of the workload as possible onto another partition, or just defer a few hours.

It would be useful to dynamically adjust for the condition : 'at risk of capping'

hope that makes sense.

re: is there any way

Yes! (probably)

But I do not have an example. See the RMF User's Guide for information about the RMF monitor 1.

Though, I am not sure what this means: "rolling 4h average of MSU on a partition to see if we are 'on the cusp' of being capped", but if you can get it online, then I am pretty sure something similar can be done from batch.
