How to add a column in the VSAM file which has records using the alternate index?
I want to add column to existing records with the help of an alternate index.

first ... use significant titles,
using the forum section name as the topic title will probaly make everybody skip the topic

second ... be honest
would You spend time trying to answer such poorly desctibed requirement

to make the most out of forum participation

VSAM datasets are record oriented,
data management knows nothing about the record structure

Moved to VSAM section.

REPRO (unload) —> DELETE, DEFINE NEW( with AIX) —> REPRO ( copy unloaded records)
