Hi All,

Its been around 12+ yrs spent on mainframe app development, design, support etc., I am little curious to know on the future of cloud migration of mainframe systems and implementation of DevOps.

How do you guys see this change coming into mainframe world ?

First, I think both cloud and mainframes are designed with their own distinct objectives. Like, mostly Mainframe drives the most critical batch applications seamlessly and not sure about cloud much but it seems designed for handling distributed data, distributed loads as per my initial understanding. So, I am little confused on the aim of a few organization on their agenda of migration of mainframe to cloud. e.g. model9, ensono etc.

Needed some expert opinion as is it worth to invest into such migration when there are abundant of people working on both system and application side of mainframe at least in India in my experience.

Please guide.

The last wo projects I worked on involves such transformation. No issues in doing it ( one time cost) but for a longer run its cost saving and effective year-on-year and more latest features for end users which improves the sales and , Services and meet market demands.

So YES its worth doing it in a digital era.

The Cloud is great for stuff that doesn’t really matter, but I don’t want my checking account on it. 😀
