Hi,
We get this below message from NET address space.
It is due to communication failure between two nodes.
Code: |
22.09.18 STC02050 IST663I INIT OTHER REQUEST FAILED, SENSE=087D0001 726
726 IST664I REAL OLU=SOME.LPAR1 REAL DLU=IBMIN.MVSPS1
726 IST889I SID = E345826E4A3
726 IST1705I SORDER = APPN FROM START OPTION
726 IST1705I SSCPORD = PRIORITY FROM START OPTION
726 IST894I ADJSSCPS TRIED FAILURE SENSE ADJSSCPS TRIED FAILURE SENS
726 IST895I ISTAPNCP 08420001 ABCDDR30 087D0001
726 IST895I ABCDDR12 087D0001 ABCDDR51 08420000
726 IST895I ABCDDR20 08420000 ABCDDR21 08420000
726 IST314I END |
The problem is, these messages flood the SYSLOG and 95% of SYSLOG are only these messages.
Could you please let me know if it is possible to suppress/not write these messages to SYSLOG?
I looked at MPF and also created VTAM message flooding table, they seem to suppress messages only to the console and does not suppress being written to SYSLOG.
Thanks,

Hi Peter,
The link says about MPF list for suppressing messages, but I think it suppresses messages only from operator log or console and does not suppress messages written to SYSLOG.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Regards,

Well, the story is about MPF processing AND Netview processing. So consult the people involved with that. |

Thanks Peter, but we don't have Netview at our shop. We have BMC Auto operator for automation and as far as I know it does not have the capability to suppress messages from SYSLOG |

Hello Vasanthz,
I believe you have done enough research to see if there is a way to suppress messages, and apparently there is no way to do that. The best way to resolve this issue is to contact the vendor of NET address space, and see if there is a way to deactivate/activate those messages whenever needed. I have also seen Mainframe shops hooking SVC 35 (WTO SVC) to make these kind of customization, and of course that can't be done overnight, and takes lot of time. |

Hi Apoorva, I have no idea about SVC 35, let me see what it can do. Thank you for the inputs. |
