Is there a way to have DFSORT do something like a SKIPREC or STOPAFT on a sequential dataset containing LF separated ASCII lines ? |

A dataset always contains records, or rows, or lines provided by zOS supported conventions.
A dataset cannot contain LF separated ASCII lines; otherwise it would not be a dataset, but something else. |

Never heard datasets being defined that way
I see plenty of datasets that contain ascii and utf-8 data everyday. z/OS nowadays does support processing of various encodings including various ascii based encodings. Anyway, please do let me know if you know of a way to do this with DFSORT |

Why does it have to be DFSORT ?
From your original request there is absolutely no way on earth that the responders here could know what you wish to achieve, and be in a position to suggest alternatives.
So, please, exactly what is it that you want to achieve here |

In that case do not use the term dataset, to not create a big mess in minds. |

The very first glimpse at DFSORT manual shows definition like this:

Sort with z/OS UNIX files |
Nothing about datasets in that case! |

In simple way show us sample input and expected output with what logic and then may be some one here could understand and help you. |
