Hello,

VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) provides a variety of ways of accessing data held on datasets.

The main types of VSAM files are:
Key Sequenced Data Sets (KSDS)
Entry Sequenced Data Sets (ESDS)
Relative Record Data Sets (RRDS)
and Linear Data Sets (LDS).

VSAM data sets are normally created using the IDCAMS utility program.

This URL has more details

You would get more replies if u put this posting at the VSAM section rather then putting it here at the DB2 section.

regards,

Hari.
