I am not quite sure this is the correct forum, but since I found a few posts about SMF here, I am posting this one.
I am reading the redbook "SMF Logstream Mode" (SG24-7919).
I am still at the beginning of it, so I do not knnow, yet, if there is some explicit text on it to comfirm (or deny) what follows, deducted from what was already read.

If if an "user" (TSO user, application, etc) needs data that is in a SMF logstream, he/she/it could use the same interface (eg, IFASMDL), in spite of where the data is (CF structure, dataspace, DASD or tape).
For example, if I need data recorded just one minute ago, that still is in the CF structure, or need data from one year ago, that is in tape, I could use exactly the same interface code to access any one of them in a SMF logstream.

Please, is the above assumption correct?
Thanks, Ricardo |
