In any job interview you should come prepared to ask questions of your interviewer. Whatever they are the last two you ask are very important. They are:
#1. Is there anything that would make you think I am NOT a final candidate for this job?
#2 What is the next step in this process?
By asking #1 you will know if you are in consideration for the job. If the answer is yes you are not a candidate, then get the interviewer to be specific. For example the interviewer may not have understood your answer to something. This gives you the opportunity to clear up any misunderstanding. Or perhaps they are looking for some skill you do not have. You can offer alternatives. It may also be that you are not qualified. If that is the case, then you know right then you will not be offered the job.
If the answer to #1 is that you are a final candidate then by asking question #2, you will know when you will hear something. For example the interviewer may say he has other candidates to interview and will make a decision by a certain date. Then you can follow up or know you did not get the job. |
