We have just upgraded to V2.2 and my TASID has broken a little bit. I have V5.21, which I believe is the latest.
What's broken is the imitator status list - when I try that now, I get 'unsupported level' (I guess referring to V2.2), and PF1 gives 'TASID could not find the PIT control block'.
Any ideas? Is there a new TASID around I can't find?
BTW if this isn't the correct support group please redirect me. |

most probably the best source of info would be IBM itself. |

Thanks, I have emailed the SPF support group, but I thought I might get a quicker reply here.
And hopefully that reply won't be 'Sorry, but we have stopped support TASID with ZOS 2.2'! |

The TASID web site says it supports z/OS 2.2. But then, it also says that TASID is not a supported IBM product and you use it at your own risk, so you may get a "Sorry" response anyway. |

I'm kind of surprised IBM would claim TASID V5.21 supports Z/OS 2.2 since 2.2 was released AFTER V5.12!

Wasn't TASID freeware written by Doug Nadel, that IBM ceased to update when he retired? |

So I did, finally, receive a reply from IBM ISPF. They reminded me that TASID is provided on an 'as-is' basis, and they couldn't provide me with a timeline for a fix.
when I mentioned that the webpage indicates support for Z/OS 2.2, they said they would update that, which they did, along with highlighting the 'AS-IS' basis of the product.
So I'm not optimistic. |

Thanks, Vladimir. I guess it's been over a year since your post, but I have applied your superzap patch to my version of TASID - and it does seems to have worked. Funny that IBM can't do the same. |

Forget TASID.
I used to look after it post-Doug just to keep things ticking along for all the loyal customers out there. IBM will not supply any resources for TASID as there is no pay back. IMO
SDSF looks pretty good. Better off putting an RFE against it to supply the TASID nice bits that you need/want. At least there is a revenue correlation back to the requirement.
Cheers Hank, no-longer-at-IBM. |

Hi Hank - I believe you made a patch for me quite a while ago, after a ZOS update broke TASID! Or maybe it was the other way around..
I'm retiring shortly - so TASID ID as it works now (with Vladimir's patch to fix the initiator display) is as far as I need to go! There's an existing minor bug - the initiator screen doesn't show the job class on the far right column - but I can manage!
Many thanks for keeping TASID alive this long!
Regards,
Rick Bigelow |
