Hello All,
I have a JCL where I am passing the symbolic parameters to the SYSIN DD statement where the instream code is present. When I am using the SYMBOLS=JCLONLY it is working fine with the instream code.
My requirement is instead of having an instream code I will be coding the instream code at a different location (i.e. catlog code) and call it in the JCL as shown in the figure. Here when I am using the code SYMBOLS=JCLONLY it is giving me errors. Please help me in achieving this. |

It's the 11th line that's giving the errors
Well, it might be, but as you haven't bothered to post exactly what the errors are, there is absolutely nothing that we can do to help you, except guess. |

And, unless you are using a relatively recent version of z/OS, you cannot use symbolics in in-stream data.
Also - please do not post attachments. Simply cut and paste from your 3270 screen into the forum editor and surround that with the code tags.
and also - why are you posting in the DFSort part of the forum when your job shows IDCAMS? For strictly JCL questions there is a separate section of the forum. |

The manual states "Use the SYMBOLS parameter to request JES to perform symbol substitution within in-stream data.". SYSIN from a dataset is not instream. |
