Hi all,
I have a huge list of tables for which I am required to find the table-space and index-space files. Currently I am using BMC tool to find this information.
There are SYSIBM.SYSTABLESPACE and SYSIBM.SYSINDEXES tables. I believe there is a pattern for the names of relevant VSAM files. If there is a method I can use these details from these tables and form the file names, it will be great. I wouldn't argue to stick to my assumption if you advise me another efficient way to achieve this.
Kindly share your expertise.
Thanks,
Sivaguru |

Talk to your DBA they should know the HLQ of those datasets.
Also, There should be an option within BMC to find those filenames. I am not sure though.
But, having said that just curious what are going to do knowing the file names. |

Thanks for your suggestion, Pandora-Box.
I am going to calculate the space occupied by these particular tables for another analysis. |

Hi GuyC,
100% true. To find this, I took 4-5 table names, found their table space names from systables and compared to the dataset BMC tool displayed for 'ds' line command. That pattern matches to your answer.
Thank you so much for your response. This is brilliant!
I will have to do the same for index space datasets and use it for further analysis. |
