Hi,
Like the Parameter substitution shown here Is it possible in DFSORT to pass a value from an existing input Header record of a report file.
Example positions (78 to 85) from input header record of a already existing file into a newly built report file with header as HEADER1=(8:78,8)??
Thanks,

There are examples here of a small step to create symbol/SYMNAME and using that in a subsequent step, the one which actually does the work. |

I don't understand the relation between the question and the linked post.
You want to copy '8 bytes of data from the header record of an existing file' to 'a header record of a new file'. Is this the whole requirement?
As sqlcode1 said, sample data and expected output needed. |

The question was originally tagged onto the linked question, so I added the link when I split to a new topic. |
