Hi all,

I tried to dynamically add a dataset to LPA using SETPROG command but it failed

/SETPROG LPA,ADD,DSNAME=abc.xyz,FORCE=YES

I need to add a complete Volume and not a module name alone

So i request you to help

Thanks & Regards,
Bharath K

What does "it failed" mean? Did the command not run? Did the command produce an error? Did the command execute but not do what you expected? We're not going to be able to help you unless you start providing actual information and not general statements!

What do you mean by "complete volume"? The LPA is defined in terms of load libraries and load modules -- you don't define LPA entries in terms of "complete volumes" since a volume to z/OS is a tape volume or an entire disk volume.

Have you read the MVS Commands manual on the SETPROG command? If so, did you notice that FORCE=YES is used ONLY with the DELETE option?

Of course it's going to fail.

If you bothered to read the documentation you would have discovered you can only add modules. The LPA libraries are defined and read as an entity during a system start.
