DB PCB specification in a program chain

Hi, I'm a system programmer.
An applicative guy made me this answer:

If I code a program for a transaction, which call an other program, wich call an other program and so on (a program chain) and only the last program of the chain need to use a DB PCB mask, do I have to code the PCB mask only on the last program? or do I have to code the PCB mask on the first and pass the area to all the program on the chain?

I've searched on IMS manual but I've found anything.
Can you help me please? where can I find this information? :(
