Hi All,
While doing FTP using 3.6 option from mainframe dataset to a text file, I see the control character ('->') after the last record in the text file.
Is there a way to eliminate this ? |

You see it where, and with what? What is the hexadecimal value of the data? My suspicion would be that if you get rid of it, you'll break your file, but not enough information to be sure. |

Hi Bill,
The control character ('->') is coming at the first position on the record just after the last data record on the notepad.
I am not sure about the hexadecimal value of it as it is not on the mainframe file but on the notepad. |

Was the transfer agent really IBM FTP or some other transfer agent? My old version of a 3270 emulator did that trick with its file transfer agent, though it was corrected by a newer version of the emulator. |

It is an EOF marker - but do not ask me why some files have it and some do not - I've just checked a whole lot of my text files before finding one showing that character. It doesn't hurt to delete it - I think it just gets added back.
If you are really concerned then go to a PC forum somewhere or Google 'eof marker in text documents' |
