Moderators - please move this to the appropriate forum area if I'm not putting it in the correct place.
I have used TSO/ISPF for about 15 years, but my new job uses Reflection as the 3270 emulator and it's working a little different than how I like.
For example, if there's text from column 1 - 8 that I want to copy on 3 different lines, I used to be able to position my cursor to the first character and then finish selecting the remaining text by using the Shift + arrow key.
e.g.
Line 1 ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ01
Line 2 ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ01
Line 3 ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ01
In the example above, if I wanted to only copy A - F, I would position my cursor on A on Line 1 and then press shift + arrow right to highlight A - F, then press the down arrow to select A - F from Line 2 and Line 3.
Using Reflection, if I press the down arrow on the keyboard, it will select everything on Line 1 (A - 1). I don't want it to select A - 1. I only want A - F, but on all 3 lines, and I don't want to do multiple copy/pastes.
Is there a setting somewhere to stop the "wrapping" on a keyboard copy function within Reflection?
I'm using Reflection for IBM - Version 14.1.422 SP3
Thanks!

I also am using Reflection but instead of using Shift+arrow to select from upper left to lower right, I drag the cursor (using the mouse) from upper left to lower right. It does behave differently. I'm using 14.1.75. |

Yeah, the mouse does work, but I really do not like to use the mouse for anything
I'm hoping that there's a setting that will allow me to continue to use just the keyboard. |

Go into the Reflection for IBM Keyboard Setup. On the virtual PC keyboard ... mouse-click the Shift key, then mouse-click the right arrow key and see what the value of this key combination is.
The value of mine is: ExtendSelection rcSameRow, rcRightOneCol
My "Shift+right arrow" does what you want but I use the mouse.
I am using Reflection for IBM 14.1.75 which works with but is not supported on Windows 7 ... and I happen to also be in Kansas City. |

Nevermind. I tried a number of the standard macros in Reflection for IBM and did not find one that does exactly what you want. You might be able to write your own. I remember a particular keyboard oriented person complaining vehemently about this "feature" many years ago when we converted to using an Attachmate terminal emulator. He refused to use a mouse at all even though the mouse did exactly what he needed. |

On the Reflections Ribbon, click Tools and then Keyboard Mapper
Scroll down to find the Shift+Right combination keys (or shift+left/down/up combo keys)
Highlight that and choose Modify
The action should be Screen Selection (Keyboard) and then set the "Selection Style" to Rectangular block and the direction if needed.
Click OK and then repeat for the Shift+Left / Down / Up / Right combo keys.
