Hi,
Using BMC unload utility, is it possible to write discarded records, after an unload, from db2 tables to a dataset like disc ddn?
Thanks,

Suja,
Do you have access to a BMC LOADPLUS manual? If not you can get one from the BMC support site. |

Hi,
Sometimes while unloading, the records get discarded because of bad data. There are very slim chances of records getting discarded during UNLOAD. But still, as a project requirement, I would like to write the discarded records to a dataset. Is there any chance of doing it using BMC Unload?
Thanks,
Suja |

I believe, Suja-chan, that GuyC was expressing incredulity. Can you show us a sample sysout where records are discarded? |

Maybe there is an exit routine involved? If so, changing that would be an easy way to add a 'discard' dataset.
I use exit routines for IMS datasets with BMC tools all the time. It sounds like there is some data testing happening during this DB2 unload, which almost has to be done via exit routine. |

Hi Akatsukami,
This is a project requirement that the records that are discarded during unload should be written to a dataset. I haven't encountered any discarded records as of now. Hence, I would like to know, if at all the records are discarded, is it possible to write them to a dataset? If so, how?
Thanks,
Suja |

Hello,
Suggest you have whoever initiated the requirement explain where/how these "discards" would be found.
Is it possible that these discards are entries that are no longer needed (i.e. expired by date)? |

Row that would not reflect in SYSREC are a direct consequence of using MAXERR in the unload statement.
I never used MAXERR in an unload.
But to answer your quesiton : It would be unlikely that for a row DB2 is unable to write to sysrec, db2 would find a solution to unload it to a so-called SYSDISC. |
