Hi! I'm trying to compile a cobol program with the DFHYITVL JCL but at the end I recieve a mesage that say RETURN CODE = 8, the object program is generated but I can not execute it because the CEMT instruction fail in the last step (CEMT S PROG(NAME)) LOAD FAILED. I send to you the images that I think can help you to understand what I say.
Thanks a lot for your help. |

and do not use attachments ...
not everybody can see/download them
do not use screen shots they waste space ...
a plain text cut and past is more than enough!
and last ...

By the way - you had successfully compiled your program. It was the link/bind that had failed. |

Hello,

I suspect you mean CEMT. What is returned
Quote: |
CEMT S PROG(NAME) NEW send me the message Load failed. |
There should be some other info presented that is more specific as to why the command failed. I suspect it is because there is not an executable load module.
Code: |

Have the corrections corrected these? You need to make sure there is a clean link before you issue the CEMT. |

Maybe the load module is not in a library known to CICS? |

Or possibly there is a "bad" module in an earlier dataset in the library concatenation . . . |

Hello,
If you do not know about load modules, you should maybe start with a simple "hello world" in a batch program instead of CICS.
You need to speak with someone who has compiled and run programs on your system. They will know the specifics of your environment, no one here knows your enviroment.
Also, we are ready to help with technical questions/problems, but we do not have the resources to actuall teach this (programming) from scratch.
As you are a beginner, suggest you consider our sister forum which is for beginners and students.

Hi dick, I did that already, that's because I'm trying to compile a Cobol program with CICS, I think if I can do that I can continue practicing with this tech, all I want to know is why Fail the Load of the program with CICS and CEMT.
Thanks. |

Please look at sequence of load libs given for DFHRPL step in your CICS region job against the load lib given by you in your compiled job.
I suspect the load lib given by you was never being used in DFHRPL step.If it used then check the properties of the load dataset used by your compiled job against the other load libs in your current system and if they are not same then make it same. |
