Hi,
Just out of curiosity.
Does anyone know if organizations/firms are still buying mainframes?
Or on a lighter note If I become insanely rich ( yeah, that is possible) in future and create a huge financial firm, should I go for a mainframe machine or some other technology?
Please suggest as your suggestion might help me in effective maintenance of my huge financial firm.... |

Trying Googling "IBM mainframe sales per year" and draw your own conclusions. |

Thanks for the tip Akatsukami....
Don't you think that future owner of a huge financial firm would have already done that.
.I am looking for different opinions.
On a serious note
I see that IBM makes a killing in mainframe market, but I also hear a lot of talk about MF migration. Therfore a little confused... |

Hello,
People who sell Win-based solutions will certainly have lots to say about MF migration. And there are thousands and thousands of Win-based products available.
None of my clients has yet to migrate their mainframe(s) to some Win-based environment/configuration.

If you'll look at the IBM's Announcement of 2Q 2013 Earnings - you'll find that zEnterprise revenue is up by 10%. IBM's CFO, Mark Loughridge, mentioned on the earnings call for analysts that he expects another double digit revenue growth quarter for zEnterprise in the third quarter. |
