Hi
I'm seeking advice from all who can help. I've 8 years Mainframe experience and am currently working as Project Lead in a leading MNC in India.
I'm looking for a job change and seek a role as Team Lead, comprising majorly the PM work. SO, here to seek advice as to How and Where I can look for a job opening on these lines.
Seems to me that in India, with 8 years experience, we can find abundant jobs with Technical Role and not inclined towards a PM role.
Can you help me here and provide your comments. Your views will be greatly appreciated. Thanks ! |

As you're currently employed - I think, it'd be better to seek those roles in the current shop of yours, yes? |

I seem to remember a long past conversation here about PM roles in India. The general consensus was that after three years of coding, if you're not a manager, then something is wrong with you.
Is that attitude still prevalent?
I guess the main thing to figure out is WHY you want to switch career paths. Are you looking for a change in salary, opportunities, responsibilities?
From a practical view, you need to look at the people doing the jobs you want to move to, then figure out what is different between you and them. Do they have different degrees, different certifications, different family ties? Then figure out if you could fill those gaps. |
