I have already searched the forum and could not find any post for below issue, hence creating new post.

I am trying to set up my FILE-AID for IMS DB, Could you please let me know from where I could get the DATA SET NAME required for the below screen.

I checked with few of my team member and they are not aware of it and I am first to access File-aid for IMS DB from my Team:

Code:
Obtain DB Dataset Names from ===>  P  (P = Previously used with 'P' here,     S
                                       I = IMS dynamic allocation source)     H
                                                                              R
DBRC not active                                                            D
                                                                           I  L
                                                                           S  E
DBD      DDNAME   DATASET NAME                                   PASSWORD  P  V
-------- -------- ---------------------------------------------- -------- --- -
AAAAPART AAAAPART                                                         SHR N
         AAAAPARO                                                         SHR N

Putting I = IMS dynamic allocation source is not working and for P I need already allocated dataset and I dont have any clue from where I could get it.

I googled to get file aid for IMS DB manual but all I am getting is file-aid for DB2, it will be great if you could provide link for file AID for IMS DB

You need to contact the software vendor for the appropriate manual(s).

A lot of companies only allow their manuals to those with a valid licence agreement.

By posting either the material or links to reserved access documentation could be seen a breach of copyright.

First, data set names for products such as File Aid are customized to the site, so only someone working AT YOUR SITE could possibly answer your question.

Second, the Compuware installation procedures generally allow you to specify the required data set names as part of the install process. If the data set name was not specified there, you may have to rerun the installation process after adding the appropriate data set name to the appropriate member of the appropriate PDS.

Third, the Compuware installation instructions will tell you what data set name is expected there; why are you expecting us to read the documentation for you (assuming we have access to the File Aid for IMS installation instructions)?

OK, the dataset names the product is asking for are NOT File-Aid datasets, they are IMS datasets.

So, take an IMS batch job that runs at your shop, look at the JCL/PROC and see if the IMS databases are explicitly defined, or if they get dynamically allocated. It has to be a DLI job as opposed to a BMP job to really know for sure.

If it has IMS dataset names, then you have to put those in the File-Aid panel, using the same DD names that the job uses.

If it has only the IMS reslib defined, then you need to put THAT in the panel and change the 'P' to an 'I' to let IMS do the dynamic allocation.
