Hi,
I am using 'File-AID for DB2 tool' for Browsing/Editing my tables. I can able to retrive data using RELATIONAL/LOGICAL Connectors functions like 'IN, BETWEEN,LIKE,>,< in WHERE Phrase. But i am unable to extract data by using aggregate functions like SUM,MAX,MIN,COUNT etc..in 'BROWSE Selection Template' or 'EDIT Selection Template'. Is there any way to use aggregate functions in File-AID DB2? Please suggest me on this. Thanks.

- One way is to allocate an SQL dataset and use the 'SQL' command to edit the SELECT sql in whichever way you want in BROWSE mode. But it may not always make sense to 'EDIT' rows which are already processed by an aggregate function. |

@Robert,
The manual not describing about the aggregate functions. I would like to know the way to use these functions in selection template if any. Note: The manual says that "For all other WHERE clauses, you must enter the CAST function manually. " after describing logical and relational functions.
@Arun Raj,
Thanks for your reply. As you said i can modify the query in dataset member. But i would like to know the is there any chance to use the aggregate functions in selection template itself. |

Hello,
If it is not in the manual, probably not.
Suggest you ask File-Aid Support. |

Manuals tend to describe what CAN be done. They tend not to define what CANNOT be done otherwise they would be rather large and repeat a lot of stuff that cannot be done - e.g. I know of no software that can wash the dishes in the kitchen sink but you would not expect any software manual to mention that the software cannot do it. |
