Hi,
Is it possible for developer to check current setting of ISNREUSE (ISN resuable) for given adabas file. We have PREDICT 4.5.2 installed but did not find way to check it.
Please help.

Hi..It's been long since I worked on Adabas..took me some time to figure out the options..Please check the below snapshots on how to use PREDICT to find out ISNREUSE Settings. Is this what you want to know?

DO NOT POST SCREENSHOTS.
You just wasted about 60K of dasd space, when a plain text cut and paste would have used one tenth

Hello,

When you cut&paste from a mainframe screen, apply the Code tag which will preserve alignment and improve readability.

Use Preview to see your post as it will appear to the forum. When you are satisfied with the appearance of your post, Submit.

Hello,
With all the arrow marks to point out stuff on the screen and what appears to be a descriptive post suited with screenshots.
With all due respect, Personally I would prefer the clarity of explanation, rather than complaining about 60KB of space.

Happy weekend!
Regards,

with the due respect this is not a classroom, where the teacher needs a laser pen to draw attention.

the premise is that people asking should know how to read and understand the data displayed on a screen even without the arrows

if they cannot do that they have no place in IT icon_cool.gif

and do not forget about the friendly PF1 to understand the meaning of each field

Hi..sorry for pasting screenshots..but I just thought it'd be better considering I have not seen too many queries related to adabas.

But still..I will keep in mind :-)

Thanks much mistah. This is exactly what I needed.

When I try the options shared by you I dont get details as shared in your screenshot.

Code:
Adabas attributes
  (Loading attributes)

I get only below columns. Do you think it has to do with Predict version as I am using 4.52 but yours seems upgraded one?

Code:
Keywords
Master file(s)
File attributes
Vista
Abstract
Extracts
Generation status

Hi..It seems your Predict environment is not properly mapped with Natural/Adabas. This facility is available on Predict Version 4.5.2 or above.

I won't be in office till Monday..so can't check. Please check with your support team.

Hello,

Just my $.02, but to me the "screenshots" are more cluttered than the same info that is "Code'd".

The arrows are kinda cute, but i've always been able to clearly explain with out them . . .

In my case the screen shots make pages that are too wide to fit on the screen. This means scrolling right/left all the time whic means I cannot be bothered to follow the discussion. Try reducing the screen shots and using preview before submitting. Not everyone has very wide screens - I use a standard CRT. It ain't broke and it does the job.

The simple answer is "no".

Predict contains meta data. It does not interrogate Adabas to display its information. The ISNREUSE setting that is displayed is the DBA's intended value. It is necessary for file creation (if Predict is used for this purpose), but there is no requirement for the DBA to keep Predict's value current.

The current value can be seen in an ADAREP report or on-line via Adabas On-line Services. The setting may be set ON or OFF via AOS or the ADADBS utility.
