Hi,
Do we need to collect SMF TYPE 04, 05, 34, and 35 as SMF TYPE 30 contains the same information that is in record types 04, 05, 34, and 35. Jus curious to know because our MAN DSNs flooding up so fast. Major contribution for the same are TYPE 4 and TYPE30 |

| I would definitely turn off collection of the 4, 5, 34, 35 records (and 20 if you are collecting them). Your site should also look at the volume of SMF data being collected and the size of the MAN data sets if they are filling so fast. The question is also, why so many type 4 records -- step termination should only be occurring in conjunction with other events? And by "major contribution" are you talking percent of records or total space used -- there can be a HUGE difference since you need to take into account the average record length as well as the percent of records? |
